Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toni Gonzalez-Collins, a Mexican-American sportscaster. She works as an ESPN anchor for news and also hosts SportsNation often. She joined ESPN in 2016. The child of television journalist Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta was bilingual from her age of nine. It is this skill that allowed her to get her first position as an Univision Production Assistant in Miami. She collaborated with producers for national shows such as Nuestra Belleza Latina Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud Primer Impacto. Her next assignment was a Sports Reporter at The CBS St. Petersburg Affiliate. In 2009, she relocated to Texas to Rio Grande Valley where she was a news reporter at KNVO TV 48 Univision. Covering stories on the issue of immigration and drug trafficking from both sides of the Texas-Mexico border, she was an anchor for newscasts at 5 p.m. Spanish newscast a anchor, reporter and later anchor for news at 9 p.m. newscast in English and also another reporter for the news at 10:30 p.m. Spanish newscast. Also, she would fill in occasionally as a weather and sport anchor. Deportes 23 was Univision Dallas affiliate and she assumed additional responsibilities. She wrote pieces on the NBA, Dallas Cowboys' postseason games, NBA ALDS ALCS World Series or Finals FC Dallas. Also, she produced Univision 23's local sports show Accion Deportiva Extra, on which she served as anchor. She was advertised as a sports anchor for Despierta America Deportes' morning show. She held the same position as a sports anchor for Primer Impacto magazine and Contacto Deportivo for the UniMas Network. Antonietta's parents hail from Veracruz Mexico. They moved at some point to Mexico City, where Antonietta Collins was born on November 1985. She is more mature than her younger sister. Her family relocated from Mexico to Miami in 1992 following the departure from Mexico. The couple divorced shortly after and her mother got married to a naval architect called Fabio Fajardo who passed away from kidney cancer in 2006. In the summer of the year 2006, Antonietta took one week with her sibling at Canton Ohio. The older Collins girl worked there. Antonietta, a high-school senior with an idea of what she wanted her future to look like, traveled to Mount Union University to see whether the university was suitable for her. At the end of the day she fell in love with the campus. And they offered her an academic major. After high school, she graduated and enrolled into media school at the university. Mark Bergmann - her professor was also the station director of WRMU (91.1 FM) which was where she felt at home. He was the one who boosted her confidence, and his passion for Journalism deeply touched her. She strived to fulfill his expectations, never letting him down.
